We carefully chose the issues we're focusing on during the 2015 Texas Legislative Session. One of the key elements is that all these topics are close to home for countless Texas families. So chances are you have a relative, neighbor or friend with a personal experience highlighting why at least one of these issues are important--and why Texas legislators should take note and work to fix or improve the situation.

These personal stories are hugely important in helping illustrate the very real impact action on these issues can have. Let's face it, who isn't moved by these stories?

Beatriz from El Paso had a run-in with payday loans: "I got a loan in December 2013 and am still struggling to get out!"

Jacky from Dallas struggled with nursing home quality issues for her family: "My sister got bedsores on her feet after she had a brain aneurysm. They refused to do anything for her."

These are just a couple of the stories we hear every day. But we can't hear enough. Please shoot us a note at aarptx@aarp.org if you or a friend have a personal story to share on any of these issues:

  • Supporting family caregivers
  • Reforming payday and auto title lending practices
  • Helping faraway family with guardianship powers
  • Protecting nursing home residents
  • Eliminating surprise medical billing
