In the spirit of Thanksgiving,  AARP Iowa celebrates the community service of volunteer members in a short video produced following our recent 2013 annual Volunteer Recognition and Andrus Award ceremony.

We hope you'll take five minutes to tune in to hear how many tax returns AARP Foundation Tax Aide volunteers prepared for older and low-income Iowans from state Tax Aide Coordinator Elmer Neussendorfer.

Learn why volunteering for the AARP Smart Driver program is so rewarding for Iowa's Marketing Coordinator volunteer Connie Sjostrom, and get to know a little about AARP founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, whose legacy is honored annually with the Andrus Award for Community Service.

AARP Iowa State Director Kent Sovern hosts the video that includes volunteer Iowa State President Tony Vola and AARP national brand advisor Lily Liu.

This year's Iowa Andrus Award recipients, Jan and Phyllis Wilson, founders of Pride in Community Appearance of Fort Dodge, make brief remarks following their introduction by 2012 Iowa Andrus Award recipients Ruth and Larry Neppl of Marion.

Iowa's GREAT (Grassroots, Elections and Advocacy Team) and Community Outreach volunteers are featured in supporting roles.

Special thanks to the Max Wellman Trio of Des Moines.  This engaging young trio opened the celebration and helped set the stage to warmly thank our great Iowa volunteers for all of their terrific work throughout the year.
