Every day, family caregivers go above and beyond to help their loved ones remain at home; however, most caregivers need additional support. Caregivers are often left feeling overwhelmed, confused or even guilty because of the stress involved with caring for an older parent or loved one.

AARP Recognizes Family Caregivers Across United States
AARP Virginia is inviting volunteers from across Fredericksburg and surrounding areas to help spread the holiday spirit by visiting those who might not be able to celebrate. Throughout the holiday season, The Holiday Project organizes visits to people in nursing homes, hospitals and other facilities across Fredericksburg. Volunteers can join an existing visit team, start their own visit team, or register to participate as a group!

Caring for a loved one can be a rewarding experience, but it can also be challenging. No one is ever completely prepared for the job, especially since caregiving is often a long-term responsibility that may become more difficult over time.
“It’s a matter of seeing the person you're living with not able to communicate… everything for her is a moment and when that moment is over it's gone… you're living in moments, not in a transition of time, and that’s hard to live with that.”
Join AARP in Los Angeles and connect with other family caregivers and friends in your community for a night-off to enjoy an evening of art and culture led by local cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz, the creator of the syndicated daily comic strip, “La Cucaracha” as seen in the Los Angeles Times and other newspapers nationwide.
