  • If you receive a Benefit Verification letter, sometimes called a "budget letter," a "benefits letter," a "proof of income letter," or a "proof of award letter," we have good news for you! A new standardized Benefit Verification letter is now available when you need proof of Social Security benefits, Supplemental Security Income, or Medicare.
  • Rounding out November as Caregivers’ Month, AARP Virginia’s Lily Liu hosted Melissa Andrews of LeadingAge Virginia on November 20, 2020, in a Caring Conversations discussion on Dementia Friendly Communities.
  • Lily Liu, AARP Virginia, hosted Melissa Barber, VirginiaNavigator, for a Caring Conversation on November 13, 2020. In recognition of November as National Caregiver Month, they carried the message “Know you are not alone” to the community of caregivers. Liu began the conversation noting former First Lady Rosalynn Carter’s observation on caregiving. She said there are really only four types of people in the world: (1) someone who is a family caregiver now, (2) someone who might have been a family caregiver and that journey has ended, (3) someone who will be a family caregiver, and (4) someone who themselves will need care.

Requesting a card replacement online is available if you live in the District of Columbia or one of the 45 states that can verify state ID information for us. If you’re only requesting a replacement card and you’re making no changes, you may be able to use our free online service.
  • Do you believe everything you see online? The obvious answer is no, but there are plenty of sensationalized headlines, misleading stories and even complete falsehoods circulating on the Internet, making it hard for even the most discerning reader to sort fact from fiction.
