As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. In Wyoming, Governor Gordon has declared a public welfare emergency to ensure that food assistance continues (for now), but this can still put pressure on local organizations and food banks dedicated to feeding hungry Wyomingites.

AARP Wyoming is collecting non-perishable food items now through Thanksgiving. All donations will go directly to local food pantries, the VA, and Veterans Rock.

Non-profit organizations in Clearmont, Thermopolis, and Sheridan scored a total of four Community Challenge Grants totaling $31,000, AARP announced this fall.
Does a COVID-19 vaccine mandate prohibition cut off Medicare funding for hospitals and health care providers? That question was one that was central to the debate during the Wyoming Legislature’s special session and may return during the 2022 Legislative Session in February.
Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon’s Strike Team is evaluating more than $3 billion in proposals to spend money given to the state from the federal government through the American Rescue Plan (ARPA). ARPA rules require all funds be obligated by the end of 2024 and spent by 2026.
The Wyoming Housing Network is asking for your opinion on availability and affordability of senior housing in Wyoming. WHN is a non-profit, based in Casper, which seeks to strengthen Wyoming communities by providing quality resources and opportunities for people to reach their housing goals.

Today, AARP launched the AARP Veterans and Military Spouses Job Center, a new digital platform bringing together valuable information and resources to help Wyoming’s nearly 52,000 veterans and military spouses compete in today’s job market.
Just over half of Wyoming’s nursing home residents have received a COVID-19 vaccine and booster, according to AARP’s Nursing Home COVID-19 Dashboard data, updated late last week.
