AARP Wyoming is honoring Sheridan’s Clarence Montano as its Community Action Volunteer of the Year. Montano was presented with his award by AARP Wyoming during its Volunteer Recognition Dinner in Sheridan on Nov. 14.

AARP Wyoming is honoring Casper’s Debbie Bovee as its Retired Educator of The Year in 2019. Bovee was presented with her award during AARP Wyoming’s 2019 Volunteer Recognition Awards Banquet in Sheridan on Nov. 14.

AARP Wyoming is honoring Nancy Drummond of Sheridan with its Lifetime Achievement Award during the organization’s 2019 Volunteer Recognition Dinner in Sheridan on Nov. 20.

A new movie, “Cracked,” which follows the experiences of persons living with dementia and their families, will be screened at the Studio City Mesa Theater in Casper, Thursday, Nov. 21 at 5 p.m.

In Wyoming approximately 74,000 family caregivers provided an estimated 62 million hours of care — worth a staggering $980 million — to their parents, spouses, partners, and friends in 2017, according to state data available in the latest report of AARP’s Valuing the Invaluable series. The complexity of family caregiving increases as medical and nursing tasks continue to enter the home, and family demographics change amidst an aging population.

Rawlins Senior residents are encouraged to come to the Rawlins Senior Center in Rawlins, Nov. 8 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. to receive a free one-on-one tutoring session on their cell phones and other mobile devices. The training, called Senior High Tech, is a collaboration between AARP Wyoming and S.O.S. (Succor/Serve Our Seniors) which is a joint effort of the Rawlins Senior Center and Wyoming Congressional Award. National Honor Society, FBLA or other groups may also be involved.

Jackson’s AARP Community Team will observe Veterans Day with a free showing of the Oscar-nominated film, “The Darkest Hour,” at 2 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the Jackson Hole Twin Cinemas in Jackson.

AARP’s Casper Action Team will celebrate Veterans Day with a free viewing of the movie “Megan Leavey.” at 7 pm. Nov. 11 at The Studio City Cinemas in Casper.
