Last month, AARP Wyoming State President Stella Montano and I joined AARP leaders from across all 50 states as we took to Capitol Hill with a clear, unified message: do right by America’s 50+ population. As part of AARP’s 2025 Lobby Day, volunteers and staff held over 400 meetings with lawmakers in the House and Senate to press for action on the issues that matter most—protecting Social Security, preventing harmful cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, and providing real support to the nation’s 48 million family caregivers.
The names of the first 10 Medicare drugs whose prices the federal government will negotiate directly with manufacturers were released Aug. 29. Popular but pricey blood thinners, diabetes medications, cancer treatments make historic list.

Sheridan’s Community Action Team (CAT) saddled up for a meaningful cause during this year’s annual WYO Rodeo Parade, bringing AARP’s fraud prevention message to thousands along the parade route. With the spirited theme, “AARP: Lassoing Fraud,” CAT members creatively spotlighted the importance of protecting seniors and the community from scams and financial fraud.
Hot Springs County residents are encouraged to come to the Hot Springs Senior Center in Thermopolis on September 26 at 11 a.m. to receive a free one-on-one tutoring session on their cell phones and other mobile devices. The event is thanks to a partnership between AARP Wyoming and students at Thermopolis High School.
