AARP South Dakota is continuing to work on transportation issues for seniors in Sioux Falls and all of South Dakota. AARP South Dakota continues to serve on the Sioux Falls Transit Task Force.  As this year long work group nears the end of its work, there has been a lot of progress made on education programs regarding Fixed-Route Service in Sioux Falls, reducing the reliance on paratransit ridership and improving coordination among non-profits in Sioux Falls that offer transportation services. …

The 2014 South Dakota legislative session is winding down but there are still a number of issues AARP South Dakota is working on for you.   Week 6 of the 2014 South Dakota legislative session dealt with Medicaid Expansion bills. House Bill (HB) 1210 went before the House State Affairs committee on Wednesday afternoon and AARP South Dakota testified in favor of it.  HB 1210 expanded Medicaid to 138% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and AARP South Dakota supports full expansion of Medicaid to our low-income, hardworking South Dakotans.  With full Medicaid expansion, 12,000 South Dakotans age 45-64 would have access to health insurance …
