Workshops to Help Plan for Retirement

Retirement Newspapers Image

Nearly half of Arkansas workers do not have access to an employer-sponsored retirement plan. AARP Arkansas is offering planning sessions to help such workers achieve financial security.

The sessions are designed to help answer questions such as, “When should I start collecting Social Security benefits?” “How much money do I need for retirement, and how can I cut costs to meet that goal?” “What are the best savings vehicles for me?”

The first event, scheduled on Aug. 12 in Pine Bluff, will address the needs of the city’s predominantly African American population. Studies show black workers are less likely than whites to have employer-sponsored retirement plans and have less money saved for retirement.
