Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria and other recent severe weather incidents serve as devastating reminders of the power of mother nature. Disaster recovery occurs at the most inopportune times; it’s never planned. But there are steps that you can take to be as prepared as possible before a disaster strikes.
Arkansans know it as one of the hottest events in Hot Springs: the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, now celebrating its 26th year. AARP Arkansas once again is co-sponsoring the film festival, which runs from Friday, October 6 to Sunday, October 15 at the historic Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa.

Due to the overwhelming response to Hurricane Harvey, AARP and AARP Foundation have increased their match from $1 million to $1.5 million and will continue to match – dollar for dollar – contributions up to a total of $1.5 million.

LITTLE ROCK—AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season. Approaching its 50 th year, Tax-Aide offers free tax filing help to anyone, especially those 50 and older, who can’t afford a tax preparation service.
This September, AARP Arkansas will offer members in Hot Springs Village free coffee on Fridays—and a free first glass of wine on Wednesdays. Why? To thank you for being a member!
