It allows members of the AARP volunteer community to connect and share experiences and best practices with one another through feeds, profiles, groups, etc. This Volunteer Portal Tip Sheet - Using Chatter - Volunteer (4) walks you through this very useful resource step by step. The Volunteer Transitions Program (VTP) is an emerging program from the Office of Volunteer Engagement (OVE) designed to connect with – and learn from – leadership volunteers who have recently transitioned from their AARP position due to the end of their term or assignment or for their own reasons. One goal of the VTP effort is to express appreciation to leadership volunteers for the dedication and service they have given to advance AARP’s social mission. The effort also helps OVE gather insights about the transitioning volunteer’s personal experiences so that we can ultimately improve the overall AARP volunteer experience. Volunteer leaders engage with this optional program through a confidential online survey and may also choose to participate in a 1:1 conversation with a trained Transitions Liaison (who is also a volunteer) or join AARP’s Alumni Community to stay informed and connected with AARP and one another.

A message for AARP volunteers from AARP Volunteer President Eric Schneidwind

While AARP strives to develop a year-round appreciation of Black history, life and culture, February is officially Black History Month (BHM), and this year, AARP was excited to begin the celebration with the observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday. Our campaign began on January 9th, the week prior to Martin Luther King Jr. Day (MLK), and continues through March 3, closing out the last week of February.

“AARP believes that volunteer service is a unique and valuable contribution which benefits both the volunteer and society…”
With state legislative sessions pretty much wrapped up for the year – and the year itself pretty much wrapped up! – now is a good time to look back at what AARP’s state offices have accomplished this year in state advocacy. In a word, what they’ve achieved has been amazing!!!
