Caring for Caregivers

A third of older Nevadans have been caregivers to a friend or relative in the last year, and many end up with financial debt.

To ensure caregivers know about resources available to them, AARP Nevada will hold the first of several planned forums at the Tamarack Junction Casino in Reno on July 20.

The “Who Cares for the Caregiver” session will discuss how state agencies can help with home-based care and issues like transportation and insurance disputes, as well as federal law regarding health insurance and long-term care.

Two-thirds of older Nevadans support using state funds to assist people who provide in-home care.
