AARP Iowa invites local eligible non-profit organizations and governments across the state to apply for the 2026 AARP Community Challenge grant program, now through March 4. AARP Community Challenge grants fund quick-action projects that help communities become more livable by improving public places, transportation, housing, digital connections, and more.

During the 2026 state legislative session, AARP Iowa plans to engage in legislation across several key areas, including consumer protection, fraud prevention, financial security, long-term care, energy and livable communities.
An estimated 41% of American adults have lost money due to fraud or have had sensitive information obtained and used fraudulently. Scammers steal billions from consumers annually and fraud is a serious issue. AARP Iowa is committed to helping Iowans stay informed about how to avoid scams and where to find support and resources in the fight against fraud.
AARP Georgia staff joined several Warner Robins leaders recently at Rigby’s Entertainment Complex, to present the 2025 AARP Andrus Award for Community Service to Walon Smith of Perry, Georgia.

From Little Rock to Pine Bluff, Fort Smith to Jonesboro, Arkansas has always lived with storms. Now, floods rise faster, tornadoes spin up with little warning, and ice and heat waves last longer. Older adults—especially those living alone or in rural areas—can be hit hard when power, roads, or medical care are disrupted.
AARP Wyoming offers a variety of events throughout the year, both online and in local communities.
Wyoming’s Audubon chapters and regional office already offer year-round activities, including field trips, nature talks, “Mindful Birding,” and online classes through Audubon Rockies.
As Wyoming and Cheyenne specifically experience a boom in data center builds, a common concern arises whether the additional energy demand from data centers will result in higher power prices for Wyoming residents. At least two local experts don’t believe that will be the case — at least not directly.
The session begins in Cheyenne on Feb. 9.
