As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older Nevadans—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.

Caring for a veteran or service member is meaningful work, but it can also be challenging. Every caregiving journey is unique, and AARP is here to help. We offer free resources and community programs designed to support military families and caregivers. These include guidance on health care and housing, fraud protection, career training, job search assistance, and family caregiving.
