As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older adults—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.

This November, AARP Colorado is celebrating National Family Caregivers Month with events and resources to entertain and empower caregivers across the state.
Today, let’s chat about how we learn to care—for others and for ourselves. Who serves as your role model for caregiving? Care receiving? What is your family legacy of care? What family or cultural patterns of caregiving are you repeating or rejecting? What legacy of care are you conveying to your family and friends?

In recent years, we have dealt with major data breaches at hospitals, retail stores and government offices. In September, we learned Equifax’s data was breached, potentially affecting millions of people. While these breaches are alarming, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you are a victim of identity theft.
