Discover the latest on caregiving, universal design, livable communities, grandparenting, driver safety and more.
At some point, we will all need someone to help us. This might be provided by family members, friends, neighbors, professional caregivers or all of the above. Some of us have many people to turn to, others, not as many. This program will help you think through future caregiving needs in an effective way. Many wonderful online resources and other strategies will be explored including CareMaps, Lotsa Helping Hands, and Caring Bridge to identify and help you create future care options. This will be a fascinating way to assess your current “circle of care” and learn how to enhance it – before you need it. This will be led by Jane W. Barton, Author of Caregiving for the GENIUS, and an AARP Caregiving Ambassador. There are two times to choose from:

Working family caregivers face unique challenges that can leave them exhausted, overwhelmed, and worried about meeting commitments both at work and at home. New research by Home Instead Inc. found working family caregivers report experiencing additional strain in multiple areas of their life including finances (60%), career (65%), physical and mental health (74% and 81% respectively), and ability to manage work-life balance (83%).

AARP and the Colorado School and Public Employee Retirement Association are sponsoring an Essay Contest with the title “My Grandparents are the best grandparents in the world!” Essays will be judged by CSPERA members and the results will be announced by April 14, 2017. There will be a first- and second-place winner in each of the four CSPERA State Divisions: the Metro Division, the Northeast Division, the Southern Division, and the Western Division. Each winner will receive as follows:
