Caregiving is a common task in the First State: nearly half of Delawareans 35 and older have at some point provided services to help an adult continue to live at home. Family caregivers often help with medical needs, as well as tasks of daily living, such as bathing, dressing and preparing meals.
To help these caregivers—whose unpaid services are worth $1.6 billion annually—AARP Delaware is urging lawmakers to pass the Caregiver Advise, Record, Enable (CARE) Act. The legislation would ensure caregivers are prepared when a loved one comes home from a hospital stay.
