Ancient mummies and artifacts have arrived at the Cincinnati Museum Center. AARP members can tour the Mummies of the World exhibit, which the New York Times called “magical and mythical,” at a discount.
Using engaging multimedia and hands-on interactive elements, the exhibit reveals how the scientific study of mummies and mummification allows glimpses into the lives of ancient peoples, cultures and civilizations.
The display includes 45 human and animal mummies up to 4,500 years old from South America, Europe and Egypt, and explains how bodies are preserved naturally and by humans. The exhibit also explores how the study of mummies has contributed to discoveries in modern medicine.
AARP members and their guests can purchase tickets ($16.50 for adults, $8.50 for children) with a complimentary audio tour headset through March 31.
Use promo code REDISCOVER at the box office (1301 Western Ave.), by phone at 513-287-7001 or at cincymuseum.org/mummies. Enter the code at checkout and bring the print-at-home ticket to the museum.
The exhibit is open daily through April 26. There is paid parking available on site. For more information, go to aarp.org/cincinnati. —Janice Brewster
