AARP Florida State Director Jeff Johnson issued the following statement calling on Florida state elected leaders, health care and medical providers and state agencies to ensure transparency and fairness of care when deciding policy and protocols on how to administer care and testing for Floridians during the current Coronavirus crisis or any emergency situation

If you have a spouse, sibling, parent, or other loved one in a nursing home or assisted living facility in Florida, you may be worried about their safety and well-being because of the coronavirus pandemic. AARP has consulted with leading experts on long-term care facilities like nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

Finances, isolation and a wish to help others top of mind for coping with stay-at-home requirements.

AARP’s Florida State Director, Jeff Johnson, commended two state agencies and the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association for collaborating on an innovative effort to engage Florida restaurants to support Meals on Wheels and other elder-nutrition programs across the state.

AARP is actively engaged in our nation’s response to the outbreak, and we are working hard to help our members, their families and broader community understand how to protect themselves.
