AARP Eye Center
While we hope it’s not needed, below is guidance on what to do if a volunteer or staff member is injured or has a medical issue while working on an AARP activity.
- For any type of health crisis, the first step should be to call 911 (at the national office dial x 36911) to obtain medical care.
- If a person is injured or if there is property damage (e.g. car accident), as soon as reasonably possible a staff or lead volunteer should report the incident. Call 866-602-2779 at any time of day or night (24/7) to report the situation to Gallagher Bassett Service, Inc. (the firm that handles these situation for AARP).
- Ultimately, there will need to be paperwork completed, but the process should start with medical (if needed) followed by a call to Gallagher Bassett Service.
- Additional support is available from Albert Fierro (x 33245) or Lisa Hilton (562-496-5206).
