AARP Idaho and the U.S. Small Business Administration are offering mentoring opportunities for people who want to launch their own businesses at 50-plus.

In observance of Mentor Month, the June events feature successful small-business owners with tips on how to make entrepreneurial ventures fly. Representatives of the SBA networks of Small Business Development Centers, Women’s Business Centers and SCORE chapters will offer insights on growing businesses and creating jobs. The sessions will be hosted by small-business owners in Boise, June 16, 9 to 10:30 a.m., and Idaho Falls, June 17, 1:30 to 3 p.m.

About 63 percent of Americans plan to work during traditional retirement years, and those 55 and older create more than 1 in 5 new businesses launched nationwide.

The sessions are free, but registration is required. To register call 208-334-9077.
