Susie Marks built her career in advocacy. But even when she’s off the clock, she’s still an advocate, volunteering for AARP as it champions issues at the Arkansas State Legislature.
AARP Louisiana recenlty honored its 2019 Andrus Award recipients, Danny and Jeannette Albert, at a reception held at St. Dominic Church in New Orleans, LA. Attendees included family, friends, colleagues, and community members.
As a part of a nationwide project, AARP Louisiana worked with the city of New Orleans local Parks and Recreation department to open an outdoor fitness park designed for people of all ages. Denise Bottcher, AARP Louisiana State Director; Larry Barabino, Jr., NORD CEO; and Teri Guerin, Chief of Staff for Councilwoman Cyndi Nguyen, welcomed community members to the new park during a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

On Thursday, Sept. 6, AARP Louisiana, the Louisiana Aging Network (LANA) and the Louisiana Council on Aging Directors’ Association (LACOADA) will host a Political Roundtable with award-winning journalists from across the state. This event will be held at the Baton Rouge Marriott, located at 5500 Hilton Avenue. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by the roundtable discussion at 12 noon.
