One Singular Sensation Comes to the Palace

Print

A spring evening, a reception for you and other AARP members, and a Broadway classic at a New Hampshire landmark—what’s not to like?

The reception, with cash bar and appetizers, at the XO on Elm restaurant (827 Elm St.) will be held before the May 8 performance of  A Chorus Line at Manchester’s century-old Palace Theatre. As part of AARP Day at the theater, New Hampshire members and their families can save $10 per ticket for the 7:30 p.m. performance. The reception starts at 6 p.m.

The event is the latest in a series prompted by member interest in local cultural events and opportunities to meet other members. The Palace was a top choice of members among local venues.

A Chorus Line, one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history, is about dancers auditioning for coveted parts in a musical. When only 17 remain, the intimidating director has them introduce themselves to help him make the final cut. The dancers have misgivings but desperately want to be chosen, so they pour out their stories and emotions in hits including “One (Singular Sensation)” and “What I Did for Love.”

Buy tickets online at palacetheatre.org or by calling 603-668-5588 or visiting the theater at 80 Hanover St. The promo code “Active” gets AARP members the discount. —Joe Magruder
