Making a difference where you live
AARP advocates on policy issues that matter most to Maryland residents age 50 and over and their families. In our state legislative advocacy efforts, we rely on our hundreds of volunteers and more than 800,000 members across Maryland.
Patients in Maryland hospitals spent a median time of 247 minutes in the ER before leaving. AARP will work with a coalition of other groups on legislative steps to address the problem.

4/30 UPDATE: The 2018 Spring Food Drive is complete! Thank you to all of the volunteers and those who stopped at their respective locations to donate food to less-fortunate Marylanders. The week of April 16-22 is National Volunteer Week. At AARP Maryland, we are incredibly lucky to work with more than 600 volunteers across the state to make life better for 50+ Marylanders and their families...all year long!

AARP members and their families are invited to come out to the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons on Saturday, April 7 from 10 am to 5 pm for a fun day filled with new, exciting exhibits! Stop by the AARP table and show your membership card to our volunteers for a free gift (while supplies last), and learn what AARP is doing locally in the community. Brand new exhibits include "Dinosaurs of Maryland" and a new recreational playground exhibit.

If you've been keeping up with our major projects this year, you know that we have two large-scale, volunteer-driven events on the horizon in 2018: our annual spring food drive at the end of April, and our first intergenerational playground project breaking ground in Baltimore on May 10!
