Caregiving

At a time when our country is extremely polarized, family caregiving is a rare issue that unites us. It isn’t a Democratic issue or a Republican issue. It’s a family issue that affects us all. If you’re not a caregiver now, you will be one or will need one in the future.
AARP Missouri is sponsoring a conference called Family Caregiving: An Act of Love in Piedmont on June 15. The event aims to connect family caregivers with helpful community resources and give them an opportunity to meet and talk with other caregivers.
Volunteers from across the state, which included “Speak Out!” speakers bureau volunteers, and the newly formed Action Council that supports advocacy issues and policy issues, met in Columbia February 6th and 7th.

St. Louis will be bursting with color June 27-28, 2015 at Soldier’s Memorial celebrating PrideFest. AARP in St. Louis will once again participate in the PrideFest activities. We will have a booth at the festival in an area specifically for people 50+ which will have acoustic entertainment, seating and a wine garden. You don’t want to miss out on all the fun!
In connection with AARP’s I HEART CAREGIVERS initiative, you are invited to watch a free screening of STILL ALICE and learn more about resources for family caregivers and their loved ones. I HEART CAREGIVERS works to recognize and support the 42 million Americans who perform a great labor of love every day—caring for older parents, spouses and others to help them live independently at home, where they want to be.
