With AARP grants, two communities are jump-starting improvements that will make their cities more livable for residents of all ages.

This year, Grand Island became the first community in the state to join the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities, as its leaders work to make the city a place where residents of all ages can thrive.

AARP Nebraska has released a Video Voter's Guide with four of the five candidates for Lincoln mayor. They tell us how they would make streets safer for pedestrians, support more walkable, livable communities and increase civic participation.

AARP Community Challenge Grants Are Back in 2019

Omaha hosted a neighborhood festival, and the city will soon have more benches, planters and art installations as part of an initiative to make the area more appealing to residents of all ages.

Carol Knaub of Gering has been selected to receive AARP Nebraska’s highest volunteer award. She is the 17th volunteer to be honored with the annual AARP Nebraska Andrus Award for Community Service since 2002.

Where We Live: Communities for All Ages features more than 100 articles and dozens of photographs about the many ways communities nationwide are becoming great places to live for people of all ages. Examples from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico appear in the publication.

AARP announces two Nebraska winners for its 2018 AARP Community Challenge grant program to help communities make immediate improvements and jumpstart long-term progress to support residents of all ages. A total of $1.3 million will be distributed to fund 129 “quick action” projects across the country. Nearly 1,600 applications were received from non-profits and government entities for the program, now in its second year. Each of the projects, which must be completed by November 5, is designed to achieve one or more of the following outcomes:
