New frauds and scams seem to crop up weekly. Identity theft and other scams rob millions of Americans of their hard-earned money. What tricks do con artists use to steal your money? How can you outsmart scammers before they strike?
Communities across New Hampshire are working each and every day to become more livable for residents of all ages.
AARP New Hampshire is gearing up to offer more events, activities, and programs in the Seacoast and we need your help! There are a lot of volunteer opportunities to get us where we need to go, and we’ve put together a Snack, Sample and Serve event to give you a “taste” of the various volunteer opportunities with AARP in the Seacoast.

As part of a nationwide project, AARP New Hampshire worked with Manchester’s Parks and Recreation Department to open a fitness park in Derryfield Park. Over the next several years, AARP plans to sponsor a fitness park in every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. FitLot, a national nonprofit, will construct over a dozen parks in 2019, which will include FitLotTM exercise equipment that can be adapted to meet a wide range of ages, fitness levels and abilities.
On June 27, 2019, the Legislature passed HB 696, common-sense legislation to better protect New Hampshire’s older and disabled adults from abuse, neglect and exploitation. The bill, which was the product of bipartisan compromise, will soon be on its way to Governor Sununu’s desk for signature. A diverse group of stakeholders is urging the Governor to sign this important bill into law.

The prices of widely used specialty prescription drugs grew more than three times faster than general inflation in 2017, according to a new AARP Public Policy Institute report. The new report found that the average annual price for a single specialty drug used on a chronic basis is now nearly $79,000, compared to $27,824 in 2006.
AARP New Hampshire has worked with Manchester’s Parks and Recreation department to open the first fitness park in Manchester designed for people of all ages. AARP East Region Vice President Kelly Clark will welcome members of the community to the new park on Tuesday, July 9th at 11AM in Derryfield Park (map).
