As the U.S. population continues aging, older adults and their family caregivers are more often seeking ways to stay in their own homes and communities for as long as possible. However, AARP research shows that while more than three-quarters of adults ages 50 and older want to age in place, one-third also say their houses need modifications to be able to do so safely and independently.

A new AARP Public Policy Institute report shows that 168,000 New Hampshire residents provide unpaid care—valued at $2.8 billion—to an adult relative or friend.

Latest AARP research attaches $2.8 Billion value to the estimated 157 million hours of unpaid care that family caregivers provided in 2021.

Overwhelming, we prefer to age at homes if our health allows it so we can maintain connections with friends, loved ones, and communities, plus it costs significantly less.
