Chevrefils Returns to AARP as New Hampshire’s State President

What’s old is new again as Dick Chevrefils, retired from AARP in 2011, recently accepted the volunteer position of AARP New Hampshire State President.  In this role, Chevrefils will lead AARP volunteers, collaborate with state leaders to ensure the achievement of AARP’s strategic goals, and continue to enhance relationships with leaders in business, government and nonprofits to meet the needs of the 50+ and their families.

Chevrefils brings to his new position over 9 years of AARP experience, having served as State Director in both New Hampshire and Pennsylvania.  With three grown children – and a new grandchild – in Northern England, Dick and his wife Fran had a calling to return to New Hampshire.  So Dick retired from AARP and moved “home.”

Retirement meant projects around the house, travel, volunteering, and lots of family time (remember, there’s that new grandchild.)  AARP is lucky that wasn’t enough.  “I really wanted to get back into helping people and making a difference in people’s lives,” said Chevrefils.  “With AARP, I’ve found the perfect volunteer position.  AARP is a tremendous organization, with a great mission ….. and what a resource to people as they age.”

Dick brings an extensive record of achievement.  Prior to AARP, he spent 35 years in state government, working in the fields of aging, health, and human services.  Dick is also well-known community leader, giving his time and talent to many organizations.  He currently services as Vice Chair of the Advisory Board for Adoptive Families for Children and Board member of National Association on Mental Illness.  He has also held leadership positions with United Way, Salvation Army, YMCA, Community Health Care Association and NH Association for the Blind.

Dick earned a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Anselm College and Master in Social Work from Boston College.  A resident of Concord, Dick and his wife Fran have three grown children and one grandchild.
