Get into the Halloween spirit with a free historical walking tour of Pine Grove Cemetery in Manchester on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m.
The cemetery, which dates to 1851 and is at 450 Calef Road, stretches across roughly 275 acres. Manchester Historic Association Executive Director Jeffrey Barraclough will lead the one-hour tour, with stops at the graves of several state historical figures, including philanthropist Frank Carpenter, composer Alonzo Elliott, Broadway actress Betty George and Civil War physician Esther Hill Hawks.
The tour, which involves some walking on uneven terrain, is open to the public and will begin at Ursula Chapel. Space is limited to 75 attendees, and registration is required.
