Every New Jerseyan has been impacted by COVID-19 in some way. During the public health emergency, the state, businesses and individuals were faced with new and urgent issues. AARP New Jersey has been tracking and advocating on some of the most pressing and important issues to YOU. Below is a summary of some of AARP New Jersey’s staff and volunteers’ work fighting on behalf of you and all New Jerseyans.
(June 9, 2020) - Across New Jersey more than 1 million family caregivers help their parents, spouses and other loved ones - and we can expect COVID-19 to increase the number of individuals who are providing short-term or long-term care to an older loved one.
On May 27, AARP New Jersey joined NJ Health Care Quality Institute’s webinar: "Telehealth Visit Best Practices for Caregivers and Older Adults.”
On Monday, May 18, AARP New Jersey hosted a coronavirus information Telephone Town Hall with U.S. Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey. Senator Booker discussed the coronavirus in New Jersey, recent economic stimulus laws, and the work he is doing in Congress to provide support for New Jerseyans during the public health emergency. AARP is providing information and resources about COVID-19 to help older New Jerseyans, and their families protect themselves from the virus and prevent it from spreading to others.
AARP will host a live Coronavirus Information Tele-Town Hall every Thursday at 12 p.m. (CST). Experts at this week’s live Q&A event will address your questions related to protecting yourself and loved ones from the virus, staying healthy and reducing social isolation.
On Friday, March 27, AARP New Jersey hosted a coronavirus Telephone Town Hall with Governor Phil Murphy, New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli and New Jersey Department of Human Services Commissioner Carole Johnson. Listen here to a recording of the live conversation.
