Health Action New Mexico, in partnership with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, is bringing a special training session on the basics of Medicare to the Albuquerque Area.

AARP New Mexico is now accepting nominations for its 2017 AARP New Mexico Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors 50+ New Mexicans who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their community members.

Due to the threat of a major winter storm hitting New Mexico overnight, AARP New Mexico is postponing its Operation Stop Scams event, offering free document shredding, scheduled to be held at the Santa Fe Place Mall, in Santa Fe, on Saturday, April 29 th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

State leaders will brainstorm viable ways to help stop hunger in New Mexico as part of a one-day summit on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

For the first time, AARP will have a presence at the Santa Fe Indian Market both as a sponsor of the event as well as through its interactive booth near the bandstand on the Santa Fe Plaza.

AARP visiting scholar and innovative geriatrician Bill Thomas, M.D., will be the keynote speaker at the 38th annual New Mexico Conference on Aging. His address on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 8:30 a.m., will encourage the audience to reframe their thinking about and transform their experience of aging. His remarks will mirror the message in AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins’ book Disrupt Aging. He also will lead a workshop that morning.
