Hearing into Deceptive Marketing Practices, Overcharges Can Now Move Forward
ALBANY, N.Y. – AARP released the following statement by AARP New York State Director Beth Finkel on today’s decision by the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) to reject a request by an energy service company (ESCO) trade group to delay the upcoming evidentiary hearing phase of the Commission’s ongoing ESCO proceedings (case number 15-M-0127):
“AARP applauds today’s decision by the PSC to reject a request to halt upcoming hearings on the ESCO investigation. The delays have gone on long enough. The process will now move forward and state regulators can ensure that consumers are protected from being overcharged for their energy supply. We look forward to the commission continuing their work to bring New York’s ESCO crisis to a close in the very near future. AARP continues to urge consumers to reject ESCOs until this matter is resolved.”
