AARP fights to lower prescription drug prices with #StopRxGreed campaign!

Tens of millions of Americans rely every day on prescription drugs to maintain their health and continue to live active and productive lives. That includes nearly 4 million New Yorkers with cancer, diabetes or heart disease. It’s unfair that Americans pay the highest brand name prescription drug prices in the world and that many older Americans have to choose between filling their prescriptions and buying food.

The high cost of prescription drugs unites all sectors of the American electorate. Nearly everyone - across social, economic, age and political lines - believes elected officials must address this affordability crisis. Older Americans and AARP members rate it a top concern, and voters want changes in policy and regulations that would lower the price of prescription drugs.

AARP is well positioned in the eyes of the electorate to lead the fight for policy changes; 78% of voters have a favorable opinion of AARP when we call on Congress to protect seniors and taxpayers from being overcharged by big drug companies.

AARP has committed resources for a multi-year “StopRxGreed” campaign at both the federal and state levels to help enable our members and all Americans to afford the prescription drugs they rely on. AARP calls on the President, Congress, the Governor and our state legislature to #StopRxGreed and cut drug prices now.

Below are some staggering statistics that are affecting New Yorkers. If you want to lend your support, sign our #StopRxGreed petition and let YOUR voice be heard: aarp.org/rx
