AARP New York is proud to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with exciting virtual and in-person events for AARP members and guests.
Experience Tai Chi with AARP New York
This spring, AARP New York invites you to a free, three-part Tai Chi Fitness Program with certified instructor Raymond Li. Designed for all experience levels, the series blends movement and mindfulness to support whole-body wellness. Two sessions will be livestreamed, and the final session will take place in person in Central Park.
As part of this year’s program, AARP New York will provide free access to recordings from past sessions when you register for one of the sessions.
For the virtual class, you will need internet access. Please remember to have water and comfortable clothing that is conducive to movement. Consult your physician before beginning any exercise program.

Session One: Review What We Have Learnt
Date: Wednesday, May 28, 2025
Time: 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. ET
Location: Virtual (Zoom)
This foundational session focuses on Tai Chi Circling, a movement that enhances the flow of Qi, or life energy, through circular arm motions. Suitable for all fitness levels, this session reviews practices from the past two years to help you integrate Tai Chi into daily life.

Session Two: Building Your Own Routine #1
Date: Wednesday, June 4, 2025
Time: 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. ET
Location: Virtual (Zoom)
Learning Tai Chi is like learning a new language. In this session, Raymond Li will guide participants through the process of developing their own routine—starting with the basics and building toward integrated movements. This session pulls together elements from previous lessons to help create a personalized Tai Chi “vocabulary.”

Session Three: Building Your Own Routine #2

The final session brings Tai Chi to life in the heart of New York City. This in-person gathering provides the opportunity for direct instruction and hands-on practice with Raymond Li.
Focus areas include: Healthy body posture; Graceful efficient movement ; Balance and flexibility; Digestive and organ health; Relaxation and stress reduction and Aging well through mindful movement
