If you’re looking to switch up your summer days and maybe even learn something new, check out the women’s suffrage exhibit at the New York State Capitol. This year marks the 100th anniversary of New York women winning the right to vote. From the Seneca Falls Convention to Elizabeth Cady Stanton’s address in front of the New York State Legislature, you’ll learn all about the decades-long fight for female suffrage and the efforts that made New York the only state on the East Coast to grant full voting rights to women before the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920.
The women’s suffrage exhibit was unveiled in March as a celebration of Women’s History Month, but you’ve still got a few weeks left to catch it before it’s gone. Grab the kids and head up to Albany for a day of educational fun, and get to know some of the most influential players who made it possible for women in New York to vote.
