Stepping Up: Volunteers Needed for Walk Audits

walking_audit

Want to help make your streets safer and your neighborhoods more livable?

AARP New York needs volunteers to help conduct walkability audits at locations around the state. The goal is to measure pedestrian safety on particular streets or intersections. Among the tasks: counting the number of cars and pedestrians passing through the location, timing the traffic light stops and assessing the types of walking activity in the area, such as exercising, commuting or shopping.
