Likely voters age 50 and over in New York’s newly redrawn 3rd congressional district centered in Long Island’s Nassau County and the new 22nd district in Central New York are leaning Republican but are unified on key pocketbook issues, according to AARP-commissioned surveys released today.

The surveys show overwhelming majorities would be more likely to vote for a candidate who supports protecting Social Security and Medicare from cuts, letting Medicare negotiate lower prescription drug prices, and allowing older Americans to use Medicaid for home care services to avoid nursing homes.

See AARP NY’s press releases for the 3rd district survey  and for the 22nd district survey.
