From phony puppy websites to fake COVID cleaning supplies to miracle cures, fraudsters have found new ways to take advantage of people during the coronavirus pandemic.

AARP North Carolina is looking for volunteers to advocate on a variety of issues important to older adults, including expanding access to the internet, removing barriers that limit the use of telehealth, preventing elder abuse and passing legislation to support family caregivers. 
AARP North Carolina will be hosting panels and a statewide telephone town hall on preventing and reporting elder abuse.
AARP North Carolina will ask candidates and educate voters about prescription drug costs, Medicare, age discrimination and other issues important to older adults.
Proposed legislation to fight identity theft and romance scams would require companies to disclose data breaches to its consumers in a more timely fashion.
AARP supports legislation to create a state-sponsored program to expand access to retirement savings.
