The Road to Medicare

Choosing a Medicare Plan is an important, but often overwhelming, decision.
This program provides an overview of Medicare.  It is for those who are close to turning 65; considering retirement; have basic questions about Medicare; or want to sort out Medicare’s relationship with their employer’s group health plan.

The presenter is a trained counselor through the Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP), a free unbiased service administered through the NC Department of Insurance.

Planning for your future, and preparing your family for the challenges that come with it, is a smart thing to do and is a gift to your loved ones.  This two-hour provides you with tools, resources, and information to help you make choices around the lifestyle you want now and as you age.  Issues concerning your home and community, your health, and how to pay for long term care are covered.

A significant part of the program is spent discussing the legal documents and instructions you can prepare should you need others to make decisions for you.

The busy lifestyle of most Americans today can make caring for an older relative challenging. Whether you are taking parents to a doctor's appointment, helping them pay bills or providing full-time care for them in your home, you likely have questions about how to best fulfill your role as a caregiver.

Prepare to Care helps make the job more manageable.

This workshop includes information on how to have vital conversations with older family members, organize important documents, assess your loved one's needs and locate important resources. It provides simple, straightforward information and checklists that help guide family conversations.
