Time for an insurance check up: Medicare open enrollment is around the corner

Do you have the health care coverage you need? Have you assessed your current health status and coverage? If you are a Medicare beneficiary, open enrollment, which begins on October 15, is your chance this year to reexamine your coverage and options. You can either select a new plan, or keep the one you have.

This week on Real Life, you’ll want to grab a pen and a pad of paper for a lot of helpful information from North Carolina Medicare experts Van Braxton, Director Seniors Health Insurance Information Program, and Stephanie Bias, Senior Medicare Patrol Program Coordinator, North Carolina Department of Insurance. The Senior Medicare Patrol is helping keep the program strong by prevent consumer fraud related to Medicare in coordination with partners and trained volunteers across the state.

If you have questions related to your Medicare coverage and options, the Seniors Health Insurance Program can help. You can contact an adviser at 855-408-1212. You can also get some helpful open enrollment tips from AARP.

Listen to the program here or on your local Real Life radio station.
