We Celebrate Our Veterans in November

AARP is honoring Veterans with a Cape-Fear region wide celebration in downtown Wilmington, November 4, 7 and 8 with a WWII style swing dance, a free concert, a precision flying team, movie marathon, kids activities, food trucks, information and more.

This week, you’ll hear from author and historian Mr. Wilbur Jones, retired Navy Captain, and past chairman of USS North Carolina Battleship Commission, and the current chairman of WWII Wilmington Homefront Heritage Commission. Mr. Jones is telling the story and maintaining the history of the work that Veterans are doing all over the country.

Also this week, you’ll learn more about an effort to educate and empower African-American to help them live their best lives. You’ll meet, Dr. Pernessa C. Steele – founder and CEO of The Balm in Gilead, and learn about the Healthy Churches 2020 conference in Charlotte.
