David Ellefson of Bismarck will be presented with the 2019 AARP Andrus Award for Community Service during an AARP volunteer recognition luncheon Oct. 9 in Bismarck.
Forman, Jamestown and West Fargo are each recipients of a 2019 AARP Community Challenge grant. A total of nearly $1.6 million will be distributed to fund 159 “quick action” projects across the country, helping communities make immediate improvements and jumpstart long-term progress to support residents of all ages.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season. Tax-Aide offers free tax filing help to anyone, especially those 50 and older, who can’t afford a tax preparation service. Tax-Aide volunteers make a difference in their communities by assisting many older, lower-income taxpayers who might otherwise miss out on the credits and deductions they’ve earned.

A total of $1.3 million will be distributed to fund 129 “quick action” projects across the country, helping communities make immediate improvements and jumpstart long-term progress to support residents of all ages.
Bismarck is ranked among the top 10 most livable small cities in the country, according to data analyzed from the newly updated AARP Livability Index.
The City of Bismarck is the recipient of an AARP grant totaling $12,610 as part of the AARP Community Challenge, aiming to create change and enhance quality of life for people of all ages at the community level.
