Feeling overwhelmed by debt? There is a way out.

AARP is offering Financial Freedom workshops to help working Ohioans develop personal plans to pay off debt, choose the best bank for their savings and determine when to start collecting Social Security benefits.

Designed for workers ages 50 to 64, the workshops will be held during lunchtime or evening hours in July and August. Locations include Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo and some rural communities.

“Too many blue-collar Ohioans do not see their way clear to a secure financial future,” said Michael Barnhart, AARP state president. “We want to help these workers make a plan to achieve financial peace of mind.”

The workshops are free, but registration is required. To register, go to aarp.org/oh. For tips on reducing debt, creating a household budget and planning for retirement, go to aarp.org/financialfreedom.
