This summer, AARP Pennsylvania is hitting the road in a decked-out van to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Social Security. Our Social Security Road Trip is all about meeting Pennsylvanians where they are. At each stop, we’re attending local events, collecting stories, and hearing directly from people about what Social Security means to them.

The play addresses the struggles and hardships of caregiving, and provides information that can help those taking care of their loved ones. Mama's Girls takes you on an emotional journey as these five sisters come together to face the reality of their mother's declining health. This life changing production will have you laughing, crying, and singing along. This stage play is part of Project Prepare to Care, a collaborative effort by Gdavis Productions and AARP that seeks to raise the awareness of caregiving. AARP’s African American/Black outreach is centered around driving relevance within the African American/Black community and beyond. One way AARP accomplishes this is through our faith-based initiative being implemented across Pennsylvania, with special emphasis in Philadelphia county. AARP effectively provides relevant information and resources to African American/Black communities in many faith-based settings, familiar and trusted.
National and local experts came together recently to attend a roundtable discussion to address the growing issue of hunger among older adults in Philadelphia. Hosted by AARP Pennsylvania and the AARP Foundation, experts representing organizations such as Philabundance, Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger, Share Food Program and others joined local officials to discuss various ways to break down barriers to connect older adults to food assistance across the city.
Marlene Trice of Philadelphia has been selected by AARP, the nonprofit membership organization for people 50 and older, to receive Pennsylvania’s 2013 AARP Andrus Award for Community Service, the Association’s most prestigious and visible volunteer award.
