AARP Supports 'Complete Streets' for Warwick

Safe driving concerns all of us!

AARP and other smart-growth advocates are backing “complete streets” plans for Warwick as the city grows as a transportation hub.

Complete streets policies require traffic planners to take all users—pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, public transit riders—into account when they plan new roads or redesign old ones.

AARP will hold a workshop reviewing complete streets plans for Warwick’s Apponaug Village from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 13 at the Warwick Museum of Art. Volunteers are needed to examine roads, sidewalks and bike access to collect data that traffic planners can use when designing improvements or developing new traffic patterns.

To get involved, call Deborah Miller at 401-248-2654. To keep up on Complete Streets news, log on to (and "like") AARP Rhode Island's Complete Streets Facebook page.
