As property values in Montana have risen in recent years, many homeowners have found themselves in the difficult position of being house rich but cash poor.
The Commission on Aging is back.
Rising utility bills are a challenge for many across the Garden State, especially those on fixed incomes. To help older New Jersey residents and their families lower their utility bills, AARP New Jersey has an online list of payment assistance programs.
With the state legislative session slated to begin this month, AARP’s volunteer advocacy team has started meeting over Zoom and in person in Concord to plot strategy.
More than 10,000 private-sector workers have enrolled in Maine’s state-facilitated retirement savings program since it launched statewide a year ago. Combined, those workers have saved more than $8 million, according to state data.
AARP South Carolina will advocate this year for lawmakers to increase the personal needs allowance in skilled nursing facilities.
With the state legislative session getting underway, AARP is advocating for Medicaid expansion, allowing an estimated 125,000 Mississippians to gain health coverage. The expansion would be largely funded by the federal government; Mississippi is one of 10 states that has not already done so, under provisions of the Affordable Care Act.
