WINSTON-SALEM, NC — Take a STEP toward better health and join a free walking program in Winston-Salem. Now in its fourth year, each walk is led by a local healthcare provider and is open to people of all ages and abilities.

En Español | Today, June 30, 2023, AARP in The Virgin Islands announced one organization in the Territory will receive the 2023 Community Challenge Grant – part of the largest group of grantees to date, with $3.6 million awarded among 310 organizations nationwide. Grantees will implement quick-action projects that help communities become more livable by improving public places; transportation; housing; digital connections; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and more, with an emphasis on the needs of adults age 50 and older.
With the arrival of July, as many as 52,000 South Dakotans may now be able to access health care coverage thanks to the implementation of Medicaid expansion, which was overwhelmingly passed by South Dakota voters last November.
AARP is now accepting nominations for its 2023 Washington Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors 50+ Washingtonians who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their community members.

Nearly one in six Colorado residents – 915,854 people – receive Social Security benefits, and 33 percent of residents 65 and older rely on the program for at least half of their income.
AARP Pennsylvania joined Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk, Allentown Mural Arts, and mural artist Hector Castro to unveil Allentown’s newest public art focused on healthy aging, diversity, and opportunity. The mural is in La Placita mini park on Hamilton Street, connecting the rapidly growing downtown and the city’s new waterfront developments.
