Driving safely while driving on wet, icy or snowy roads isn’t easy for anyone. It requires preparation and concentration. Here are some basics to keep you safe when the roads in our community are not safe.
(Ridgeland, MS) - AARP Mississippi applauds the Mississippi Legislature for passing House Bill 366, The Mississippi Broadband Enabling Act. The legislation was signed into law by Governor Phil Bryant today.
AARP Kansas works across the state to help make life better for our citizens who are 50 and older. We advocate for passage of laws that help Kansas residents remain in their homes and communities. Our work would not be possible without the hundreds of volunteers across our state who devote their time and talents to advocacy, community service, and fraud prevention. We also have volunteers who teach the AARP Driver Safety Program courses throughout the state and who provide free tax assistance through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program.

Navigating Hazardous Winter Roads
Dr. Sandra Simmons, a veteran AARP Michigan Driver Safety instructor from Midland, has been selected to receive the Richard H. Austin Traffic Safety Award.
Cars have changed, and so have traffic rules, driving conditions, and the roads you travel every day. Even the most experienced drivers can benefit from brushing up on their driving skills. That’s why we all can benefit from a course that helps us refresh our driving skills! The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to commit to driving safer and longer.
Gloria Harlan of Biloxi has been selected by AARP, the nonprofit organization for people 50 and older, to receive the 2018 AARP Mississippi Andrus Award for Community Service -- the Association’s most prestigious and visible state volunteer award for community service.
AARP Mississippi is happy to announce our Scholar Athlete of the Week every Friday this fall. We partnered with Super Talk Mississippi to seek nominations for outstanding students who excel in sports and academics. The response was overwhelming! Meet Sema’J Harris, a senior at West Point High School and member of the football team. He was nominated by Coach Chris Chambless.
