AARP is now accepting nominations for its 2018 Mississippi Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors 50+ Mississippians who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their community members.
Advocacy, local lifestyle offerings, adult learning and community service are several of the outreach efforts needed to successfully enhance the quality of life for all as they age.
I recently had the opportunity to join the dynamic staff and volunteers at AARP for their annual Lobby Day at Legislative Hall in Dover. It was my first time in my new role as AARP Delaware State President. The person in this top volunteer role represents AARP to a variety of governmental, corporate and community partners in the state and helps drive the mission of AARP – to make life better for those over age 50, and their families.
AARP is asking the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to reduce electric and gas rates by requiring utilities to pass recent tax savings on to consumers.
AARP Hawaii is hosting its 2018 Women and Money conference on Saturday, July 14, 8 a.m.-noon, at the Japanese Cultural Center in Honolulu. The conference is designed to help women achieve retirement security. Gerri Walsh, senior vice president for investor education at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, will deliver the keynote address, sharing insights on How Women Outshine Men at Investing.
